Wow Gold-News-The Latest Anniversary Interview of WOW
The Latest Anniversary Interview of WOW
The Latest Anniversary Interview of WOW
The latest anniversary interview is from WorldofWar.de, an official German fan site, in which they had a chance to talk with Tom "Kalgan" Chilton, currently the Game Director for WOW.
Well first of all, WoW is an online rag that you pay a monthy fee to play. There is a story of the game, however, most people don’t get that into the story. You choose a race (Gnome, Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, or Drenai for Alliance and Undead, Tauren, Troll, Orc, or Blood Elf for the Horde) From this point, you decide your class (Rogue, Warrior, Mage, Warlock, Paladin, Priest, Druid, or Shamen), you can also buy wow gold from some website.
As with the recent Frank Pearce interview, Chilton provides some very interesting information, including the fact that there are no plans for player housing currently, and an "if we could do it all over" scenario related to PvP.
The point of the game is to level your character to the max by completing quests, or running Instances (Dungeons really) with a group of people. The basic point of the game is to be the best of the best. But Blizzard created a way of it not “ending”. They are always coming out with further levels, better gear, new lands, and new everything (ie: old level cap was 60, current is 70, and Blizzard is coming out with up to 80 soon). You can also run battle grounds where you pit your character against eachother with capture the flag and other competitive games. The game is a great way to meet new people, get out some aggression, and just getting a really cool character you can show off.
Chilton feels that, while arenas are certainly popular, it may have not been the best way to progress player-versus-player gameplay in World of Warcraft. If they could do it over again, he would like to have done rated battlegrounds in Burning Crusade first, and then branch out to arenas at a later time.
Finally, Kalgan also talked a bit about the 40-player raid game and that it was actually debated for Ulduar because the content needed to feel "epic," but in the end, they realized the raid size isn't the limiting factor on something feeling epic. Anyone who has run Halls of Reflection can certainly attest to this. It's a very fun instance, with a fairly epic feeling because of the story and on heroic mode is actually quite challenging if you don't outgear it. Thus, the chance of seeing 40-player raids ever again falls into the realm of "very unlikely," though you should never always count something out.
